Proactive community adaptation to climate change through social transformation and behavioural change

Living Lab Workshop in Bergen: Co-Creating Climate Adaptation Pathways to 2050

On Monday, May 5th, stakeholders from diverse backgrounds came together in Bergen to participate in a forward-looking scenario workshop as part of the PRO-CLIMATE project’s Living Lab activities. The aim of the session was to explore long-term climate adaptation strategies through role play and scenario planning exercises focusing on the year 2050.

The workshop gathered a mix of 11 participants, representing key stakeholder groups including politicians, business leaders, residents’ associations, students, and academia. The session’s innovative format encouraged participants to step into one of five fictional roles, each designed to provoke dialogue and challenge assumptions about the social, political, and environmental future of the region.

“The goal was to spark new thinking around how different actors might perceive and respond to climate-related challenges in 2050,” said one of the facilitators. “We connected this to our broader Living Lab process and received very engaging responses”.

Held in Bergen, the event was supported by a carefully developed agenda and supporting materials, including presentations in both English and Norwegian. The workshop also contributed to the Living Lab’s overall targets, by engaging participants in meaningful reflection and co-creation on climate futures and community resilience.

The PRO-CLIMATE team plans to share a detailed summary of participants’ feedback and stakeholder affiliations in the coming weeks, along with an analysis of how the workshop contributes to the project’s systemic approach to behavior change and climate action.
