On 13th October 2025, Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo marked Climate Action Week by integrating a dedicated climate-themed round into its annual Maths Week Quiz Night. This year’s event, co-hosted by the Sligo Living Lab and the ATU Math Department, featured, for the first time, a quiz section focused specifically on climate change, with an emphasis on local Sligo-based climate questions.
The special climate round was developed and facilitated by Dr. Xu Liu and Dr. Catalin Anton, postdoctoral researchers in ATU’s Environmental Science Department and representatives of the PRO-CLIMATE project. Their contribution encouraged participants to engage with real environmental and community challenges explored through ATU’s Living Labs and ongoing climate adaptation research.
The event also raised €280 for Northwest Hospice, thanks to enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and members of the wider community. Hosted at The Harp Tavern, the quiz offered an enjoyable evening that combined learning, climate awareness, and community engagement.
ATU looks forward to continuing this tradition and further strengthening the climate and sustainability dimension in future editions of the quiz.
