Proactive community adaptation to climate change through social transformation and behavioural change

On December 10, 2024, Ann-Marie Nienaber from Coventry University represented the PRO-CLIMATE project at a virtual workshop hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This workshop was part of an ongoing Europe-wide series focusing on the integration of gender dimensions in climate change research.

As the eighth edition of the series, the workshop engaged an international audience with compelling examples and practical insights on incorporating gender perspectives into research projects. Ann-Marie Nienaber shared insights and experiences from the PRO-CLIMATE initiative in her presentation titled “Incorporating Gender in Climate Research: Insights from PRO-CLIMATE’s Gender Dimension Plan.” She emphasized the importance of integrating gender considerations throughout the project’s research activities, including methodology, analysis, theoretical frameworks, and practical applications.

By demonstrating how gender influences climate change models and adaptation scenarios, her presentation showcased PRO-CLIMATE’s commitment to promoting inclusive climate solutions. Incorporating gender considerations can enhance both climate research and policy development.
