Proactive community adaptation to climate change through social transformation and behavioural change

PRO-CLIMATE Partners Convene for 6th General Assembly in Bergen

The PRO-CLIMATE consortium gathered in Bergen, Norway, on 10-11 June 2026 for its 6th General Assembly, hosted by the University of Bergen - two intensive days of progress reviews, living lab showcases, and shared planning for the months ahead.

Reviewing Progress Across Work Packages

The first day opened with a project update from the coordinating team at Tero, followed by in-depth sessions covering the project's core work packages. ATU presented advances in the Living Lab co-creation approach (WP2), while Co-op reviewed the mapping of climate adaptation systems (WP3). Coventry University led discussions on good governance and behavioural change (WP4), and the University of Bergen presented the latest modelling and stress-testing results (WP5). The University of Leipzig rounded off the morning with an update on policy recommendations (WP6).

The afternoon was dedicated to dissemination and communication strategies for policy recommendations, led by the University of Leipzig, ahead of the meeting's flagship practical session.

PRO-CLIMATE Stakeholder Engagement Game

A highlight of the first day was a live demonstration of the PRO-CLIMATE Stakeholder Engagement Game, developed by ATU as part of the Living Lab Assessment work. Partners stepped into the roles of community stakeholders, experiencing first-hand how the game drives co-creation conversations around climate adaptation, one of the project's most innovative outputs to date.

Living Labs in Focus

Day two placed the project's six living labs at the centre of discussion. Each team presented their actions since the last General Assembly, progress made, challenges encountered, and next steps giving partners a vivid picture of climate adaptation work on the ground across Europe.

The afternoon featured a technical session on testing the model fit to the living labs, led by NORCE and the University of Bergen, reinforcing the connection between the project's modelling work and real-world implementation contexts.

Communications, Management, and the Road Ahead

Communication, dissemination and exploitation activities (WP7) were presented by Tero, covering outreach milestones and upcoming plans. Project management and administrative matters followed before the GA closed with a summary of open issues across all work packages and a concrete list of actions for the next six months.

Partners left Bergen aligned on priorities and energised for the project's next phase. PRO-CLIMATE continues to work with communities and stakeholders across Europe to advance climate adaptation through its urban living labs.
